For my descriptive essay, I chose the topic of discussing a place that is important to me. The place I chose was the Chaddick theatre, and you can read why it is so important to me here (my original essay). Two of the main reasons I discussed why it is so important to me are (1) the people who are in the theatre company, and (2) how much the theatre company (but especially our directors Megan and Marele) has made me a much better actor since just 9th grade. For the “remix” (above) of my descriptive essay, I chose to use pictures I took of our most recent show, our spring musical Freaky Friday and pictures that were taken of me from the show (by Clay Randel).
The pictures I took of Freaky Friday show the amazing cast we had. As you can see in the pictures above, all of the cast members are fully dedicated to their performances. Along with being dedicated, everybody in the cast is extremely talented, but that doesn’t detract from their personalities. There are many talented people in the world who “know it” and have a big ego because of it. But, that’s not at all what my friends are like. They are professional, caring, and kind. I mostly got to work with Emma Hilleary (who played my sister, Ellie Blake), Sydney Ellman (who played my mom, Katherine Blake), and Cole Smith (who played my “new” dad, Mike Lovely). All of them were a joy to work with throughout the rehearsal process for this show. I am going to miss Sydney and Cole (and all of the other seniors) very much next year, but I am excited to continue performing with Emma and my other fellow juniors.
Lastly, I decided to include a section of pictures of myself from the show (I played Fletcher Blake) to represent how far I’ve come as an actor. I explain this in much more detail in my essay, but I have come so far as an actor. Freaky Friday was a really great opportunity for me to take on a bigger role than I have before and to grow. I learned so much during this show such as character development and gaining self-confidence, and I look forward to more acting and shows next year as I keep growing.
